CHEERS AND JEERS — For March 1-2

(Continued)

CHEERS

... to area law enforcement for issuing warrants to 47 drug dealers in New Albany, Floyd County and beyond early Wednesday morning in the largest drug raid in New Albany history.

Getting these people and their poison off the streets is a huge plus for this community.

We all know this is probably just a small dent in the local drug problem, but it sends a message. If you deal drugs you will eventually be caught and go to jail. Hopefully, people will realize dealing drugs does not replace an honest day of work. Drug dealers, in my book, are worthless.

CHEERS

... to free concert tickets.

The News and Tribune — via its new publication SoIn — is giving away four sets of two tickets to the Arcade Fire show Thursday at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, where the band kicks-off its North American tour.

Want to know how to enter the giveaway? Visit facebook.com/YourSoInWeekly and tell us your favorite Arcade Fire song. While you’re visiting the page, be sure to “like” it.

Best of luck.

CHEERS

... to the Southern Indiana Rehabilitation Hospital for celebrating its 20th anniversary in New Albany.

During that time, the hospital has provided 75,000 patients the ability to become more self-sufficient after suffering serious injury or some sort of health problems. That pretty much says it all. The staff at SIRH should be applauded.

JEERS

... to Mother Nature.

More ice and snow is on the way. Enough is enough! Bring on the summer heat.
