CHEERS AND JEERS — For June 15-16

CHEERS

... This seems to be the summer of triple plays at the Floyds Knobs Community Club Little League.

Recently, 6-year-old Hayden Libs did one better by turning an unassisted quadruple play in the T-Ball tourney. He was able to accomplish the feat since all players get to bat around each inning. He caught a line drive, then proceeded to tag out runners at first, second and third bases. Way to go, Hayden.

READER CHEERS

... to Zak Leffler who walked and ran 33 miles (132 laps) at the Floyd County Relay for Life last Friday.

What an inspiration you are to our Memory Miles for Moe Team and to all the other participants at Relay for Life. You truly understand the meaning behind this night. Thanks for being part of our team.

READER JEERS

... to the Greater Clark County School Board for creating a new Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education position at a salary level of $111,640 to $121,958.

The hiring of Dr. Andrew Melin supposedly saved the school corporation approximately $40,000 over the salary of former superintendent Dr. Stephen Daeschner. Looks like that savings didn’t last long.

READER JEERS

... to Paul Northam and the Jeffersonville Parks Department for tearing out the rain garden at Preservation Station.

Not only did the taxpayers of Jeffersonville have to pay for the garden to be removed, now they have to pay for new plants and the labor to install them. This was another needless waste of taxpayer money.
