Gordon Finley Thacker, 78; Jeffersonville

— Funeral services for Gordon Finley Thacker, 78, Jeffersonville, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, at First Presbyterian Church, Jeffersonville, with cremation to follow. He died Friday, April 4, 2014, at Jewish Hospital, Louisville.  

He was born March 16, 1936 in Lookout, Ky., to the late John Greely and Matilda Justice Thacker. He retired from Ford Motor Company,  Louisville, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He loved spending time with his family, traveling, square dancing and camping. He was a member of the local Ivy Diggers Camping Club, the Indiana State Association of FCRV and the Family Campers & RVers. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 340, Scottish Rite, Evansville, the Murat Shrine, Indianapolis, Tri-County Shrine Club, the UAW Local 862, and was a Kentucky Colonel.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Petsy Lynch Thacker; a daughter, Melanie Thacker Glover; three grandchildren, Gretchen Glover, Nathan Glover and his wife, Cheyenne, and Zachary Glover; one great- grandson, Declan Glover; a aunt, Margaret Musick; two nephews, John Adams and his wife, Starr, David Lynch and his wife, Becky; two nieces, Kathy Lynch Hobbs and her husband, Ronald, and Leigh Ann Lynch Jacobi and her husband, Brian; five great nephews, Vince King, Chris King, Nicholas Lynch, Jonathan Lynch, and Bradley Hobbs; three great nieces, Brittany Hobbs, Brianna Jacobi, Natalie Jacobi; and a brother-in-law, James Lynch and his wife, Venita.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Geroyd Thacker, two sisters, Janice Thacker Justice, and Joyce Thacker Adams; and a niece, Jennifer Berryman King.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at Legacy Funeral Center, Jeffersonville, and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to First Presbyterian Church or the Crusade for Children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
