CHEERS AND JEERS — For Sept. 21-22

... to the work being done to renovate houses moved in recent months to new spots in downtown Jeffersonville.

Two of the homes — one located on the 200 block of West Market Street and another on the 300 block of Pearl — are looking fantastic as renovations continue.

It’s great to see these old houses saved and becoming homes to new families.

... to Clark County Councilwoman Kelly Khuri for hosting a series of public meetings titled “Know Your County Government.”

It’s refreshing that a public servant will take time above and beyond meetings and phone calls to be proactive in reaching constituents. The series of talks has featured presentations from public officials on a myriad topics, including the county’s probation department.

The next installment will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jeffersonville Library and feature representatives of the county Health Department. On Oct. 23, the Sheriff’s Department will present.

... to the manager/owner of the abandoned Smoothie King establishment on 10th street in Jeffersonville (next to Papa Murphy’s).

I was so excited to see your store open, as you were the first Smoothie King I knew of to offer a drive-thru. I waited and waited ... and it took you forever to get this place open. You were only open for a few months, then bam! ... closed at the beginning of the year for “beginning of the Year inventory” and you have yet to open again.

As one who is addicted to smoothies, please if you do not plan to reopen take the Smoothie King signage down. I am tired of craning my neck to look at your store every time I go past your establishment on my way home in hopes that you will reopen.

I am paying my chiropractor way too much due to this.
