Embers ignite debris pile at New Tech site in Clarksville

Structure at former Value City property suffers no damage

CLARKSVILLE — Officers from the Clarksville Fire Department talk after responding to a fire at the former Value City property along Eastern Boulevard — the construction site of the New Tech school at Clarksville Community Schools — on Wednesday. Alan Muncie, principal owner of ARC Construction Management, said while the construction crew was cutting joists, embers fell into a large debris pile that included insulation, which caused it to ignite. After demoltion crews put water on it, firemen extinguished the pile. Clarksville Fire Marshall Brent Wilson said no injuries were reported and there was no apparent damage to the structure, but a more thorough investigation of the site had yet to be completed.
