— A man wanted for the recent robberies of two banks, both of which were located in Meijer stores, including Jeffersonville’s Allison Lane location Sept. 6, was arrested in Shelbyville, Ky., Thursday.

Jason E. Abell, 34, was arrested without incident in Shelbyville by the Jeffersonville Police Department, that was assisted by Shelbyville Police and Louisville Metro Police Robbery Division.

Abell was located in a Shelbyville apartment building following information revealed during a police investigation.

He is also suspected of robbing another bank in Florence, Ky., that occurred Sept. 9. Each of the robberies occurred at U.S. Bank branches located in the retailer.

Abell is currently being held at the Shelby County Jail on warrants from Clark County and Boone County, Ky.

Jeff police Detective Todd Hollis said Abell does not have a known permanent address, but his residence history includes both Jeffersonville and Clarksville.

JPD previously reported the Jeffersonville robbery was carried out by a man who approached the counter of the bank and presented an employee with a threatening note demanding money.

After the robbery, the suspect was seen fleeing in a white passenger car.
