Former bank manager arrested for $63K theft in Scottsburg

Money siphoned from bank throughout 2012

SCOTTSBURG — A 24-year-old Scottsburg woman was arrested Thursday morning following an Indiana State Police investigation showing she schemed from her employer more than $63,000 over the course of a year.

Renea D. White, a former Centra Credit Union manager, is believed to have taken money from a teller drawer and manipulated customer’s accounts of the Scottsburg bank, ISP reports after a seven-month investigation. The alleged incidents took place from Jan. 2, 2012, through Jan. 18, 2013.

ISP reported that the credit union has made all involved customer’s accounts whole since the alleged crimes.

White has been charged in a Scott County court with five counts of class C felony defrauding a financial institution and five counts of class D felony theft.

A maximum sentencing would place White in prison for 65 years.

White was originally held at the Scott County Jail under a $50,000 court-cash bond, which was later reduced to $35,000 court-cash.

A $3,500 bond was posted, and White has been released from the jail.

ISP reported it was assisted by the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office and the Scottsburg Police Department during its investigation.
