JPD asking for public’s help in fatal hit and run

Michael Overton died Tuesday of injuries from Sept. 8 incident

JEFFERSONVILLE — The Jeffersonville Police Department is asking for the public’s help for information in a fatal hit and run on Sept. 8.

According to a news release from the department, Michael Overton, 61, Jeffersonville, on Tuesday died at University of Louisville Hospital of injuries sustained in the incident.

On Sept. 8, Overton was found in the roadway in the 1000 block of Springdale Drive with serious injuries after apparently being struck by a vehicle, the release stated.

According to witnesses, Overton was last seen riding his bicycle at about 3 a.m. in the area of Greenwood Apartments and was believed to be en route to the apartment complex.

Jeffersonville police are asking anyone who might have information about the incident to call the detective division at 812-285-6535. Anyone who would like to leave an anonymous tip can call the tip line at 812-218-TIPS [8477].
