Driver killed after striking building in New Albany

NEW ALBANY — The driver of a 2013 white Ford Mustang was killed around 3:40 Sunday morning after his vehicle struck Alan’s Automotive along Ind. 111 South.

The New Albany Police Department received a call regarding a vehicle that had struck a building and when officers arrived, they found the driver had received fatal injuries. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

The preliminary investigation states the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Ind. 111 South at Corydon Pike, according to a press release from the Floyd County Combined Accident Reconstruction Team — or CART. The vehicle left the roadway as it entered a curve onto Corydon Pike and struck the building, Alan’s Automotive, which sustained severe damage.

CART was formed in July 2007, by Floyd County Prosecutor Keith Henderson, to investigate all fatality crashes and those involving serious bodily injury that may result in criminal charges.
