Fire erupts at Sam's Food & Spirits in New Albany

Building was not occupied, no injuries reported

NEW ALBANY — New Albany firefighters battled a fire at Sam's Food & Spirits off of Charlestown Road early Tuesday morning.

Floyd County Sheriff's Maj. Jeff Topping said the fire begain shortly before midnight.

Photos of the scene from Topping showed flames shooting above the building of the popular restaurant, located at 3800 Payne Koehler Road.

No one was inside the building at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported, according to the New Albany police department.

Sam's also has a restaurant at Highlander Point in Floyds Knobs.
