Victims of crash on Ind. 60 near Sellersburg identified

One remains in critical condition after Wednesday’s wreck

CLARK COUNTY — The identities of two of the three people involved in a single-vehicle wreck on Ind. 60 Wednesday morning have been provided by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

James Duffy and Billy Wilson Jr., both 22-year-old New Albany residents, were in the passenger car that left the roadway about 9:30 a.m. and struck two trees, said Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Brian Meyer.

A female in the vehicle has not been identified by investigators.

Wilson was airlifted from the wreck scene to University of Louisville Hospital. Meyer said he remains in critical condition under the hospital’s care.

Duffy and the female were taken by ground ambulance to U of L Hospital and have since been released.

Meyer said when EMT arrived to the scene, the three reported that another person had been in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but no evidence of a fourth person has been discovered.

“There was an extensive search of the area and a wrecker lifted the vehicle, but there were no signs a fourth person was involved,” Meyer said, adding that witnesses reported there was “no way” a person left the wreckage.

An investigation into the accident, including identifying who was behind the wheel, is ongoing, Meyer said.

The wreck occurred between Perry Crossing Road and the Silver Creek Conservation Club.

Meyer said no skid marks were found on the roadway and that toxicology reports were taken at the hospital, but have not yet been provided to Clark County Sheriff’s investigators.
