Police have identified the man who died from a single gunshot wound Monday at 2305 Plum Wood Drive in Clarksville.
Steven Baldwin, 48, was found unresponsive on the dining room floor with a gunshot wound to the chest, according to a Clarksville Police Department release. The case considered a homicide by CPD.
Clarksville police confirmed that Baldwin lived in the home with his wife, stepson and his brother-in-law. None of those three are considered suspects, police said.
The shooting took place between 9:45 a.m. and noon Monday, CPD said, and his brother-in-law came home and found Baldwin shot. He then called 911.
After responding to the home about Monday, police considered the incident a death investigation, as they were unable to determine if the man had turned the firearm on himself. But as the investigation unfolded, investigators began treating the shooting as a homicide, CPD Maj. Darrell Rayborn said.
Police are still investigating the shooting and have not released information about any arrests.
The home is located at the northern end of Clarksville in the Plum Lake subdivision, near Hunter Station business complex in Sellersburg. It has a Sellersburg mailing address.
Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call CPD at 812-288-7151.
