Charlestown man arrested for stealing golf carts

The Clarksville Police Department on Wednesday arrested Bruce Stoner, 52, Charlestown, on preliminary charges of four counts of class D felony in reference to four golf cart thefts at Wooded View Golf Course.

Two of the thefts occurred in August 2012, and again in June and July this year, according to Detective Darrell Rayborn with the CPD. Rayborn said Stoner has admitted to the thefts.

Following a news report which showed video of the theft, Clarksville Police received “50 or 60 calls” with information that the person in the video was Stoner, Rayborn said. Stoner also received phone calls and that is when he decided to turn himself in.

“We didn’t know who he was when we first looked at the video,” Rayborn said. “After we started getting phone calls from the public, we finally realized who it was.”

Rayborn said the golf carts cost $8,000 each and are still in good running condition.

Stoner is in the Michael L. Becher Adult Correctional Complex in Jeffersonville.

Jeffersonville Police make drug arrest

The Jeffersonville Police Department Drug Investigation Unit arrested two people Monday following the execution of a search warrant in Fulton Terrace public housing complex located on East Court Avenue in Jeffersonville, according to a release from Detective Todd Hollis.

Arrested were Glenn Willis, 35, Jeffersonville, dealing in cocaine and marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing, and Cynequa Winfield, 25, Jeffersonville, possession of marijuana within 1,000 feet of public housing and maintaining a common nuisance.

Detectives seized one half pound of marijuana and nearly three grams of crack cocaine.
