Stepmom’s call leads to heroin-related arrests

Man arrested had four pending charges, including a class B felony

CLARKSVILLE —

A man and woman were arrested on heroin charges after the man’s stepmother called police to her Clarksville home Wednesday.

Gary Landers, 25, and Xochitl Rodriguez, 24, both of 924 Spicewood Drive, were arrested about 5:30 a.m. after police located two used syringes with heroin residue inside of a movie case on a dresser.

The stepmother had called police and reported that Landers was addicted to drugs, that he had not left his bed for several days and she wanted him out of the home, but he refused to leave. Officers entered the home and met with Landers and Rodriguez.

“Landers and [Rodriguez] had physical signs of heroin use on their arms consisting of track marks,” according to the police report.

Both have been preliminarily charged with possession of heroin and possession of a needle or syringe, both class D felonies.

Court dates have not been set for Landers or Rodriguez as of press time.

Landers also has four felony charges pending in Clark County Circuit Court No. 2, according to court records, stemming from a March 2 incident.

He faces charges of possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, a class B felony, and unlawful possession of a syringe, maintaining a common nuisance and neglect of a dependent, all class D felonies. Landers has a trial date slated for July 2 for those charges.
