Juvenile reports drug dealer robbed him during exchange

Firearms used to carry out $600 robbery

CLARKSVILLE —

A 17-year-old Louisville resident reported to Clarksville police Saturday that he was robbed of $600 after coming to Clarksville to buy “two ounces of very high-grade marijuana.”

Ryan Perry, 22, of 919 Colonial Park in Jeffersonville, was identified as a suspect and arrested the following day during a traffic stop.

Perry has been preliminarily charged with armed robbery, a class C felony; possession of a firearm by a serious felon, a class B felony; intimidation, a class C felony; and possession of marijuana, a class D felony.

The juvenile told police a friend had driven him to Sav-A-Step convenience store on South Clark Boulevard about 4 p.m. to meet two suspects who were referred to him by a friend. Police reported the juvenile said he was dropped off at the convenience store by his friend and he got into a vehicle with Perry and an unidentified man. The three then drove toward nearby Norwood Avenue and stopped the vehicle in an alley. Each of the three then exited the vehicle and approached the trunk area.

The juvenile told police that Perry and the other man then asked him for $600, and he told them he did not have the money on him.

“Both suspects then pulled out two small handguns, believed to be .380 in caliber, and put the guns to his head, reached into his pocket and took $600 in cash and fled the area.”

The juvenile told officers he then called his friend to pick him up before meeting with police to report the robbery.

About 1:30 a.m. Sunday, a Clarksville patrol officer stopped a vehicle traveling at high rate of speed along Eastern Boulevard. The vehicle matched the description of the suspect’s vehicle in the armed robbery the day before. The driver was identified as Perry. The officer noted in the report the odor of burnt and raw marijuana coming from the vehicle.
