JEFFERSONVILLE — Two people were taken to University of Louisville Hospital after a head-on collision on the Clark Memorial Bridge about 9:15 p.m. Thursday.

Jeffersonville Police Department Detective Todd Hollis said a passenger car driven northbound by Lydia Bennett, 62, of Clarksville, crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck driven by Dennis Duncan, 60, of Louisville.

He said that each vehicle was occupied only by their drivers.

Hollis said Friday morning that Bennett had been hospitalized for “very serious injuries,” but her current condition is stable and continuing to improve.

Additional information of Duncan’s condition is forthcoming.

Hollis said what caused Bennett to drive into the oncoming lane is currently undetermined, but officers are continuing to investigate the accident.

He said all four lanes of traffic on the bridge were closed from about 9:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. while JPD officers completed accident reconstruction.
