JEFFERSONVILLE — A couple was arrested after admitting to shooting up heroin in a Jeffersonville hotel while a small child was present.
The Charlestown Police Department arrested Jared Lee Davey and Holly Lynn Anderson, 23, both of Jeffersonville, at Hoosier Hotel off of 10th Street in Jeffersonville on Feb. 23. The arrests followed a controlled heroin purchase orchestrated by Charlestown police at Courtyard Square apartments on Greentree Boulevard in Clarksville, according to a probable-cause affidavit.
During the transaction, Charlestown police reported videotaping Davey as he sold $30 of heroin while in a vehicle. After the drug buy, Davey was pulled over near Hoosier Hotel. Officers placed Davey in handcuffs and asked him where he got the heroin.
He initially told the officer that he didn’t know what the officer was talking about. The officer then told Davey police had him making the drug transaction on videotape, at which time he admitted to making the heroin sell. Davey stated that he frequently sold heroin because he needed the money, according to court documents.
Davey told the officer that he was staying at Hoosier Hotel with his girlfriend, Anderson, and that there was heroin and marijuana in the room. He also told police they had both been shooting up heroin.
The officer then went to the couple’s room and spoke with Anderson. She told police that there were no drugs in the hotel room and gave consent for police to search the room, according to the affidavit.
After police entered, Anderson asked if she could use the bathroom. The officer denied her request until the bathroom could be checked by police.
“When I went inside the bathroom, I noticed a green leafy substance on the toilet next to some rolling papers,” the officer put into the report. “I also noticed on top of the toilet there was a white bag containing hypodermic needles next to a white-powder substance.”
