Missing Jeffersonville woman found

Josh Carroll arrested, charged with two felony counts

JEFFERSONVILLE — A Jeffersonville woman who was reported missing Thursday was found the following day, and the man she lives with was arrested Saturday.

Christy Clark, 28, was reported missing Thursday morning. She had last been seen at the Levee Bar & Grill on Market Street in Jeffersonville. She was found Friday at a Mr. Transmission along Baxter Avenue in Louisville.

When found and questioned by authorities, Clark claimed that Josh Carroll, 28, who shares an apartment with her at Mayfair Apartment Homes, had picked her up from the Levee, removed the battery from her cell phone and held her against her will, according to JPD Detective Todd Hollis.

However, the story she told Louisville Metro Police Department officers — who first responded to Mr. Transmission — was different from the one she told JPD detectives, Hollis said. She ceased to cooperate when police told her witnesses saw her at a bar with Carroll on Thursday evening. Clark has not been charged with a crime in this case.

“A lot of what was in her story did not fit the facts,” Hollis said.

Carroll was wanted for an altercation with Clark that took place in the early hours of March 18 in which Clark claims Carroll pushed her to the ground repeatedly while she was holding a child, physically restrained her from leaving the apartment and stopped her from calling 911 or relatives with her cell phone.

When Clark was found Friday, she exhibited signs of injuries, but it could not be ascertained whether those injuries were sustained during the March 18 altercation or during the time she was missing with Carroll, Hollis said.

Carroll was arrested by Clarksville Police Department officers on a warrant stemming from the March 18 incident. He is being held in the Michael L. Becher Adult Correctional Complex in Jeffersonville and is charged with criminal confinement, a class C felony, and battery resulting in bodily injury to a victim under 14, a class D felony. Carroll has not been charged with any crime in connection to Clark’s reported disappearance.
