Wreck near Chicken House injures two

Injuries likely not life-threatening

NEW ALBANY — Two drivers were sent to University of Louisville Hospital after an accident on Grant Line Road on Tuesday.

Lieutenant Frank Loop with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred in front of the Chicken House restaurant at the corner of Grant Line and St. Joe roads at about 12:24 p.m.

Loop said the driver of the Ford Escort was headed north on Grant Line Road and trying to turn into the parking lot of the restaurant when a Chrysler PT Cruiser was traveling on the southbound side of the road, causing a head-on collision.

Both drivers were transported to U of L hospital with leg fractures, which were likely not life threatening.

“Most of the time, when there is a crash here, it’s severe because of that blind spot on the crest of the hill,” Loop said. “We don’t have many wrecks here, but when we do, they’re usually bad.”

Clark County Police also responded to help direct traffic, along with IU Southeast Police. New Chapel Fire Department sent trucks to help with cleanup and rescue efforts.
