Elsie R. Meredith, 84; of Clarksville

Elsie R. Meredith, 84, of Clarksville, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was a native of Louisville and was a former switchboard operator for Southern Bell Telephone.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph E. Meredith; two sons, Ronald Meredith of Wilmington, N.C. and Russell Meredith, Clarksville; a daughter, Bonnie Sue Meredith Young, Pekin; six grandchildren, Ronald Meredith Jr., Kimberly Huffman, Shawn Meredith, Logan Meredith, Jared Young and Tayler Young; two great-grandchildren, Austin Huffman and Hayley Huffman.

Cremation was chosen.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter, 3703 Taylorsville Road, Suite 102, Louisvile, Ky., 40220-1330.

Chapman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
