HENRYVILLE — A school bus carrying students was involved in an accident on a access road connected to Clark State Forest.

John Reed, assistant superintendent of West Clark Community Schools, said the bus was carrying 28 students from Henryville Elementary School.

Clark County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Brian Meyer said one of the children had complained of pain. Meyer said the bus was traveling on Forestry Road, hit a patch of ice and slide from the roadway an into a ditch.

Indiana State Police and paramedics responded to the scene.

Reed said after the call about the accident came in from the bus driver at about 3:20 p.m., the district followed procedure and called in paramedics, though the driver initially reported no students complaining of pain. He said though the students would board another bus to get home, that wouldn’t happen until paramedics had a chance to evaluate them.

He also said though none of the students have been named yet, parents will get notification from the district as soon as they’re identified.
