Jeffersonville's marching band goes to Super Regional Championships

Event this Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis

JEFFERSONVILLE — The Red Devil Marching Band will compete for the title of Super Regional Champion at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis this weekend.

At 3:15 p.m. Saturday, JHS’ marching team will compete against nearly 40 other high schools from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Illinois in the Music For All Bands of America competition. If the Red Devils are among the top 12, they’ll continue to the final competition in the evening to win the Super Regional Championship.

In a press release, music for all president and CEO Eric L. Martin, said band students work hard to prepare for competitions like this one.

“Bands of America Championships are a program of Music for All, which has a mission to create, provide and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all,” Martin said. “Active participation in music and arts is a vital part of a meaningful educational experience.

“The thousands of students who will perform at this championship showcase the dedication, teamwork and mastery required and fostered through music and arts education.”

The final competition begins at 7:45 p.m., should Jeffersonville make it through the semifinal round earlier that day.
