A 12-year-old student was arrested on an intimidation charge after claiming to have a bomb while leaving his bus at River Valley Middle School Tuesday morning.
Sgt. Todd Hollis, a Jeffersonville Police Department detective, said the seventh-grader faces a class A misdemeanor after the bus driver heard him and reported the incident to school administration.
Erin Bojorquez, supervisor of communications and public relations for the district, said Jeffersonville police acted quickly after the claim was made.
Hollis said after the school personnel followed procedure on their initial investigation, they determined there was no real threat to the school.
“The school doesn’t believe there is any danger to any students at this time, or the school or staff,” Hollis said.
The student was taken the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
