LSI hosting forum on public school funding

School business expert, four administrators to speak

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Leadership Southern Indiana will host an education forum on public school funding from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, in the Hoosier Room of Indiana University Southeast, New Albany.

The Duke Energy-sponsored program titled “From Your Wallet to the Classroom” will feature a presentation from Dennis Costerison, the executive director of the Indiana Association of School Business Officials. For more than 30 years, Costerison has been instrumental in shaping the school distribution formula for Indiana’s public schools and will share his insights with attendees at the forum.

“He’ll answer questions about where the money comes from and how it is spent, including your tax dollars,” said Mark Eddy, LSI’s executive director, in a news release.

Following Costerison’s presentation, area school leaders will participate in a superintendents panel. The panel includes Kimberly Knott, superintendent, Clarksville Community School Corporation; Andrew Melin, superintendent, Greater Clark County Schools; Monty Schneider, superintendent, West Clark Community Schools; and Brad Snyder, deputy superintendent, New Albany-Floyd County Consolidated School Corp.

Ivy Tech Chancellor Rita Shourds will moderate the panel. Audience members will be afforded the opportunity to ask the panelists questions.

“The Education Forum Committee has put together a fantastic program. Whether you are a parent, business leader, taxpayer or concerned citizen, this forum is for you,” said Eddy.

There is no cost to attend. Seating is first-come, first-served.
