300 students in NAHS’ holiday production

NEW ALBANY — New Albany High School’s award-winning performing arts groups will put more than 300 students into the school’s performance venues for its annual Madrigal Feaste and Holiday Spectacular, Dec. 14-15.

Choirs, bands, costumed actors, the orchestra and the newly introduced hand bell choir will be a part of the festivities.

Each evening will begin with the long-popular Madrigal Feaste, during which the school’s Camerata Singers under the direction of Linda DeRungs will be singing while the antics of the feaste’s “Royal Court” will be acted by the students in Gina Cisto’s theatre arts department. Guests will be treated to desserts and refreshments.

At the conclusion of the Madrigal Feaste, the Royal Court members will lead the audience into the decorated high school’s auditorium where all the school’s performing arts groups will perform holiday favorites. John Esarey’s jazz band will play “A Child is Born” and “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.”

Both the Acappella and the Camerata singers will join with the school’s new handbell choir for “Carol of the Bells.” The full band will present “Greensleeves” and the full orchestra “Away in a Manger.” All the groups will be on stage for “White Christmas” and a “snowy surprise” is promised for the end of the night’s production.

Two pricing structures are in effect. Each night there will only be 150 tickets available for $10 for patrons to attend both the Madrigal Feaste and Holiday Spectacular. Those will be available on a first-come, first-served basis based upon postmark dates on ticket reservations. The Holiday Spectacular tickets cost $5 and will be available each evening at the door.

The Madrigal Feaste opens at 6:30 p.m. each night for refreshments and seating in the school’s atrium. The royal court processes at 7 p.m., after which the Camerata Singers and theatre department’s mini-musical will take place. The holiday spectacular will begin at 8 p.m.

To obtain Madrigal Feaste tickets, contact a NAHS choir member, or call 812-981-7648 for details on prices, payment method and mailing address.
