Ivy Tech adds Computing and Informatics school at Sellersburg campus

Impetus was to enhance information technology programs

SELLERSBURG — Ivy Tech Community College will introduce its new School of Computing and Informatics during the upcoming fall semester.

The new school will combine Computer Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, and Information Security programs that are now housed in the Ivy Tech School of Business.

According to Justin Suer, dean of the School of Business at Ivy Tech in Sellersburg, the idea was to enhance the quality of Ivy Tech’s information technology programs by forming the new school.

Ivy Tech enlisted a statewide advisory board to make recommendations about changing the curriculum.

Ivy Tech has also been able to secure grant funding to aid in purchasing new lab equipment and materials for the School of Computing and Informatics.

Courses in the new school will include Network Infrastructure, Database Management and Administration, and Software Development, and they will be offered at 21 Ivy Tech campuses and sites including Sellersburg.
