Henryville’s girls and New Washington’s boys won Southern Athletic Conference Middle School track and field titles at Silver Creek High School on Friday.
Coach Karen Albert’s Henryville girls won the meet with 102 points. New Washington finished third and Borden was fifth.
Henryville’s Cia Green broke a conference record in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:35.31. The Hornets scored 38 points in the final three events as Green finished first and teammate Reagan Hensley was second in the 800, then Henryville won the final 800 and 1,600 relays for the team victory. Hensley was also second to Green in the 1,600.
The other Henryville winners was Nunn in the long jump. Brianne Cochran won the high jump and the shot put for New Washington, while the Borden 400 relay team was victorious.
Jonathan May’s New Wash boys’ team dominated the SAC with 152 points. Borden finished third and Henryville was fourth.
Bailey Hecker was a two-time winner for the Mustangs, taking the 100 and the 800. Brandon Horton won the high jump and Brady Woodward the 110 hurdles for the Mustangs. New Wash also wn the 800 and 1,600 relays.
Borden’s Chas Adams won the shot put and discus. He broke a meet record in the shot with a toss of 44-feet, 4-inches. The Braves’ other winners were Josh Jenkins in the 200 and the 400 relay team.
Jack Grifka of Henryville won the 400.
