The Providence volleyball team went 3-1 in the Clinton Prairie Invitational on Saturday. The Pioneers (20-10) picked up victories against Clinton Central (25-21, 25-17), Warsaw (16-25, 30-29, 16-14) and Hamilton Heights (25-17, 25-17). Their lone loss was against Brownsburg, 25-13, 25-23.

On the day, Providence’s Laura Der spiked 33 kills, teammate Lucy Knott made 18 kills and 15 blocks, and Pioneer setter Elizabeth Endris had 72 assists.

“We faced great competition in this tournament,” Providence head coach Terri Purichia said. “Our team battled through some challenging spots during the day and came up with a few great wins. Maria Cochran and Alexa Elliott provided a great spark for us today. Lucy hit the ball very well also. It was a really good tournament right before we head into postseason play for our team. We cannot wait until the sectional draw (on Monday). We have waited all season for the sectional to come. We will be ready.”

The Pioneers will host Southwestern on Tuesday.

Callie Burgin led New Wash with 26 kills on the day. Also for the Mustangs, Casey Johnson had 19 kills, Kala Dieterlen made 38 assists and 15 service aces and Jenna Sexton had 17 digs.
