GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

EASTERN DOWNS MUSTANGS, 53-42


On Thursday night, senior guard Katie Ernstberger scored a game-high 18 points and dished out six assists to lead host Eastern past New Washington, 53-42.

Ernstberger also drew the defensive assignment on one of the Mustangs’ top players in Ashley Johnson, who was held to nine points. Johnson did not score in the first half.

Bailey England and Rachel Hamilton each tallied eight points for the Musketeers (6-2).

Courtney Amick paced New Washington (5-4) with 12 points, shooting a perfect 7-of-7 from the free-throw line. Teammate Caroline Ricks had nine points.
