BORDEN — Borden’s historic girls’ tennis team took all the top Southern Athletic Conference postseason honors in 2014.

Senior Abby Ellis was named Most Outstanding Player, Ross Shauver was named Coach of the Year for the seventh straight year and for the ninth time overall, and the Braves swept the All-Conference singles awards.

Sarah Hurst and Kendyl Wheatley — Borden’s No. 2 and No. 3 player, respectively — were also named first-team All-SAC. The Braves’ No. 2 doubles team of Bailee Kruer and Kaelan Harmes also was named to the first team.

The Lanesville No. 1 doubles squad of Madison Cunningham and Maddie Ford was the lone non-Borden first-team honoree.

Borden won its seventh consecutive league crown before winning its first sectional title and advancing to the regional championship. The Braves have won 10 of the last 13 league crowns and 12 in the program’s history.
