• Melanie Stutsman (Western Kentucky volleyball, Floyd Central graduate, Sr.) — weekly stats: 121 assists, 31 digs, 14 kills, 10 blocks; top performance: match-high 54 kills, 13 digs, six kills and three blocks in the Hilltoppers’ 3-2 home victory over South Alabama last Friday; notes: Stutsman became WKU’s all-time leader in assists in the South Alabama victory; she currently has 5,254 assists in her college career; the Hilltoppers clinched the outright Sun Belt Conference regular-season title with their victory over Georgia State last Wednesday; it was their third consecutive regular-season conference championship; WKU will have the No. 1 seed in this week’s Sun Belt Conference Tournament; team records: 27-5 overall, 17-1 Sun Belt.

• Rachel Boesing (Asbury volleyball, Fr.) — notes: Boesing and the Eagles won the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament this weekend in Midway, Ky.; they defeated IU Southeast in Saturday’s final, 25-19, 25-17, 25-15; Asbury will be playing in the NAIA national tournament starting this coming Saturday; team records: 18-14 overall, 8-3 KIAC.

• Haley Dresner (Xavier women’s swimming, So.) — top performances: first in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:55.1) and 150 breaststroke relay (1:36.69) in the Musketeers’ 74-52 home victory over Butler on Saturday.

• Rachel Engle (Western Kentucky volleyball, So.) — weekly stats: 17 kills, four digs, three aces, two blocks, two assists; notes: nine kills, match-high two aces, two digs and two blocks in the Hilltoppers’ 3-0 home win over Georgia State last Wednesday; team records: 27-5 overall, 17-1 Sun Belt.

• Dylan Jenney (Franklin football, Jr.) — notes: five receptions for 45 yards in the Grizzlies’ 59-21 victory at Hanover in the Victory Bell Classic; Franklin captured a share of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference title on Saturday and earned an automatic berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs; the Grizzlies became the first team in HCAC history to win four consecutive conference titles; it also was their ninth straight win over archrival Hanover in the annual battle for the Victory Bell; team records: 7-3 overall, 7-1 HCAC.

• Tyler Byrne (Louisville men’s cross country, Jr.) — top performance: 10th at the NCAA Division I Southeast Regional last Friday in Earlysville, Va., 29:16.1; notes: Byrne’s time at regional broke the school record for a 10K race; it is the second consecutive meet he has set a school record as he snapped the 8K mark at the American Athletic Conference Championships on Nov. 2; Byrne earned an at-large berth in next weekend’s NCAA Division I championships in Terre Haute on Saturday; Byrne made the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region team for the first time in his collegiate career.
