H.S. ROUNDUP: Webster, Price combine for no-hitter

Morris leads New Wash to 8-1 victory

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — Alli Webster and Carly Price combined on a no-hitter as Charlestown defeated Borden 15-0 on Wednesday.

Webster struck out six in three innings, while Price struck out a pair of Braves in her two frames.

Alyssa Price had a double and one of three Pirate triples on the day. Also with triples were Kaitlynn Henning and Lexi Logsdon. On top of her strong pitching performance, Carly Price went 3 for 3.

The Pirates go to Clarksville tonight for a Mid-Southern Conference showdown.

• Morris leads New Wash to 8-1 victory: Whitney Morris threw a complete-game one hitter and also hit a two-run home run in New Washington’s six-run seventh inning as the Mustangs beat Austin 8-1 on Wednesday.

Morris struck out 10 Eagles and improved to 3-5 on the season.

Brooke Shaw added another sixth-inning two-run home run as the Mustangs broke open the contest in the frame.

NEXT: New Washington (3-5) hosts Scottsburg, Friday.

TRACK & FIELD

• Borden sweeps three-ways:
Borden’s boys and girls both topped Lanesville and South Central in a three-way track meet on Tuesday.

Brian Eurton won the 800 and 1,600, Brett Williams won the shot put and discus as the Borden boys’ beat runner-up South Central by 35 points. Michael Lynch also won the pole vault, Brady Knight the 100, George Tipker the 400 and Hayden Casey the 300 hurdles for the Braves.

The Borden girls edged South Central by 11 points, led by a pair of individual wins by Shelby Kirchgessner (300 hurdles, pole vault) and Carson Casey (shot put, discus).

NEXT: Borden boys at Floyd Central Invitational, Friday; Borden girls and boys at Clarksville, Monday.

POSTPONEMENTS

• Clarksville at Providence baseball was postponed. Rescheduled date has not been announced.

• New Albany at Jeffersonvile softball was postponed. Rescheduled date has not been announced.

• Seymour at Jeffersonville baseball, originally schedule for April 12, has been moved to May 13.

• Scottsburg at Charlestown softball has been rescheduled for April 30.

• Henryville at Eastern baseball has been rescheduled for Friday.

• Henryville’s track meet against Clarksville, Crothersville and South Central was postponed. Rescheduled date has not been announced.

• Scottsburg at New Albany softball, which was postponed last Thursday, has been rescheduled for April 30.
