LITTLE LEAGUE ROUNDUP: NA’s Thomas tosses no-no in 15-0 win over Jeff/GRC

Schoenfeld has three hits, two RBIs in victory

NEW ALBANY —  Camri Thomas pitched a no-hitter to lead the New Albany 11-12-year-old Softball All-Stars to a 15-0 victory over Jeff/GRC in four innings in the District 5 Tournament on Tuesday at Grant Line Elementary School. It was the tournament opener for both teams.

Thomas struck out 10 Jeff/GRC batters while walking only two. She also helped herself at the plate with a pair of doubles.

New Albany’s Bre Schoenfeld collected three hits and two RBIs. Also for New Albany, Erin Bell smacked two doubles, Riley Case had three RBIs and Anya Davenport drove in two runs.

NEXT: New Albany (1-0) vs. Charlestown, 7 p.m., Friday; Jeff/GRC (0-1) vs. Silver Creek, 7 p.m., today.

• Creek cruises by Charlestown: Silver Creek began its defense of the 11-12-year-old title with a 23-3 victory over Charlestown in four innings on Tuesday at Grant Line Elementary.

Silver Creek’s Jordan Balz scored four runs, while teammate Abby Whitlock came home three times. In a starting role, Whitlock pitched two no-hit innings with five strikeouts.

NEXT: Silver Creek (1-0) vs. Jeff/GRC, 7, tonight; Charlestown (0-1) vs. New Albany, 7 p.m., Friday.

9-10 BASEBALL

• HYR blanks Clarksville: Each Highlander Youth Recreation player in its lineup got a hit in its 10-0 victory over Clarksville in four innings on Tuesday at Mount Tabor Park. It was the tournament opener for both teams.

NEXT: HYR (1-0) vs. Silver Creek, 8 p.m., Saturday; Clarksville (0-1) vs. New Albany, 5:30 p.m., Saturday.

• New Albany rolls past Charlestown: New Albany had every player in its lineup collect a hit and each player on its roster score a run in its 15-0, four-inning win over Charlestown on Tuesday. It was the tourney opener for both teams.

NEXT: New Albany (1-0) vs. Clarksville, 5:30 p.m., Saturday; Charlestown (0-1) vs. Jeff/GRC, 7 p.m., Friday.

13-14 BASEBALL

• Jeff/GRC defeats HYR: Starting pitcher Kendall Northern and reliever Jacob Cochran combined for the victory in Jeff/GRC’s 10-6 win over HYR on Tuesday. Northern threw the first four innings, while Cochran pitched the final three.

NEXT: HYR (0-1) vs. Charlestown, 7, tonight; Jeff/GRC (1-0) vs. New Albany, 7 p.m., Friday.

OTHER SCORES

In other action on Tuesday, Jeff/GRC 11-12 Baseball All-Stars downed Charlestown in four innings, 10-0. In 10-11 baseball action, New Albany defeated Silver Creek, 15-5. No other details were provided from these contests.
