• FC goes 4-1 at Calumet:
Floyd Central won four of its five matches at the Calumet Traicoff Invitational on Saturday, including wins over No. 7 Cathedral (47-29) and No. 11 Mishawaka (34-33).

The Highlanders had another one-point victory, beating Valparaiso 31-30. The other triumph came 41-19 over Lawrence North in the day’s opener.

Second-ranked Crown Point handed Floyd its only loss of the day, 44-25.

“We wrestled a lot of really tough teams today,” Floyd coach Brandon Sisson said. “We are coming back beat us, but that is why we came to one of the toughest tournaments in the state.”

Once again, Terrence Kennedy led the way for the Highlanders, going unbeaten on the day. Chris Whitley, Chase Herron, Jackson Randall and Austin Ward all went 4-1, while Brennan Banet was 2-1.

Everybody on the team got better today,” Sisson said.
