GREG'S PICKS: Fans will know more about Jeff very soon

Devils battle No. 1 Ballard tonight

BOYS — Silver Creek at Charlestown

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Silver Creek 1-3, 0-2 Mid-Southern Conference; Charlestown 2-1, 1-1.

• Last year: At Silver Creek 65, Charlestown 53.

• Last 15 years: Silver Creek 20-7.

• Assessment: Aaron Daniel and Chris Braun have been awfully impressive at Charlestown. Those two alone should help the hosts with an early-season experience edge. Since the talent level seems to be about the same on both sides, that could be the difference.

• Greg’s Pick: Charlestown 65, Silver Creek 59.

BOYS — Crothersville at New Washington

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Crothersville 2-4, 0-1 Southern Athletic Conference; New Washington 1-2, 0-0.

• Last year: At Crothersville 49, New Washington 37.

• Last 15 years: New Washington 11-6.

• Assessment: It was a nice win over Southwestern on Friday for the Mustangs. A victory over Crothersville should help prove that New Wash is a team to be taken seriously this season.

• Greg’s Pick: New Wash 58, Crothersville 56.

GIRLS — Jeffersonville at South Oldham (Ky.)

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Jeffersonville 3-4, South Oldham 0-4.

• Last year: South Oldham 70, at Jeffersonville 52.

• All-time series: South Oldham 1-0.

• Assessment: Jeff’s comeback win over then-5-1 Columbus East could be what gets the Red Devils turned in the right direction following a four-game losing streak.

• Greg’s Pick: Jeffersonville 59, South Oldham 51.

GIRLS — Christian Academy at Rock Creek Academy

• Time: 6:30 p.m.

• Records: Christian Academy 1-4, Rock Creek 0-5.

• Last year: Christian Academy 63, Rock Creek 33.

• Last 10 years: Christian Academy 15-2.

• Assessment: Christian Academy should get its second victory in a row.

• Greg’s Pick: Christian Academy 50, Rock Creek 25.

GIRLS — West Washington at Henryville

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: West Washington 2-4, Henryville 4-6.

• Last year: Henryville 46, at West Washington 33.

• Last 10 years: Henryville 8-2.

• Assessment: Great comeback win for the Hornets against Providence. That should give this young team some confidence.

• Greg’s Pick: Henryville 54, West Washington 31.

GIRLS — Charlestown at Floyd Central

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Charlestown 2-5, Floyd Central 5-2.

• Last year: Floyd Central 72, at Charlestown 40.

• Last 10 years: Floyd Central 5-2.

• Assessment: The Highlanders are 5-2 after going 2-5 against the same competition in the first seven games a year ago. Clearly, Kirk Hamsley has an improved bunch.

• Greg’s Pick: Floyd Central 63, Charlestown 50.
