H.S. ROUNDUP: Highlanders falls to No. 8 Brownstown, 64-47

Dragons, Generals stay at top of MSC

FLOYDS KNOBS — Floyd Central suffered a tough home loss on Tuesday falling to visiting Class 3A eighth-ranked Brownstown Central, 64-47.

Brownstown (14-3) got off to a fast start gaining a seven-point lead at the end of the first quarter. After another strong performance in the second, the Braves took a 35-24 lead into the half.

The third quarter was the Braves’ best, outscoring the Highlanders 21-7 and holding a commanding 56-31 lead after three quarters.

Floyd Central battled back in the fourth doubling the Braves score 16-8, but the Brownstown lead was too much to overcome.

Chaz Schneider was the high man scoring 23 points and hitting 5 threes for the Braves.

J.C. Kinnaird scored 21 for Floyd Central. Zane Nichols added 10.

Floyd Central, now 3-15, will travel to Jasper on Friday to take on the 9-8 Wildcats.

SILVER CREEK CRUISES IN AUSTIN, 64-52

Silver Creek went on the road Tuesday and extended its Mid-Southern Conference record to a perfect 6-0 with a 64-52 win over Austin (7-10, 4-5).

The win is the Dragons’ fourth straight overall.

Silver Creek received solid games from a trio of players. Christian Reed led all scorers with 25 points. Jake Steele had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Nick Tinsley was one assist from a double-double of his own with 10 points and nine assists.
