H.S. SWIMMING PREVIEW: Highlanders look to repeat at conference, sectional

Dogs, Devils hope to push for HHC, sectional titles

• Coach: Rhonda VanMeter, 2nd season at Silver Creek.

• Assistant Coach: Nick Salinas.

• Departed Swimmers: Carlie Stark.

• Returning Varsity Swimmers: None.

• Varsity Newcomers: Kaitlin Sullivan (Fr.), Shelby Lawson (Fr.), Lauren Pressley (Fr.), Andrea Cortes (Fr.), Kelsey Riggs (Fr.).

• Outlook: With no returning swimmers — and only five total — it’s unlikely the Dragons will be competing for championships. However, with a nice group of incoming freshman, the Creek program has something on which it can build.

• Coach VanMeter said: “My expectations and goals for this year are for these girls to finish with a sense of accomplishment [and] with a positive attitude.  Each of these girls add their own unique personality and attribute to the team. With having such a small team, it’s hard to compete against some of the larger teams, but I am very confident that this year we will hold our own.”

Note: Providence did not respond to requests to participate in the season preview.
