GREG'S PICKS: Jeff, Providence potential Game of the Year

Class 2A No. 4 Pioneers sports 10-0 mark; Red Devils come in 9-2

CLARKSVILLE — GIRLS — Austin at Silver Creek

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Austin 12-3 (6-1 MSC), Silver Creek 11-5 (5-1).

• Rankings: Austin, Class 2A No. 10.

• Last year: Silver Creek 41, at Austin 35.

• Last 10 years: Tied 5-5.

• Analysis: Austin’s win against Madison last Saturday has to make Dragon fans nervous, but I’m taking Silver Creek at home.

• Greg’s Pick: Silver Creek 44, Austin 42.

GIRLS — Bedford North Lawrence at Floyd Central

• Time: 1:30 p.m.

• Records: Bedford North Lawrence 14-0 (4-0 HHC), Floyd Central 9-6 (1-3).

• Rankings: Bedford North Lawrence, Class 4A No. 2.

• Last year: At Bedford North Lawrence 59, Floyd Central 39.

• Last 10 years: Bedford North Lawrence 6-4.

• Analysis: Bedford may be the last team standing at the end of the year.

• Greg’s Pick: Bedford North Lawrence 61, Floyd Central 43.

GIRLS — Columbus East at New Albany

• Time: 1:30 p.m.

• Records: Columbus East 7-6 (1-2 HHC), New Albany 6-8 (2-2).

• Last year: At Columbus East 64, New Albany 51.

• Last 10 years: Columbus East 8-2.

• Analysis: These have been two hard teams to figure out. Even at New Albany and with Tanner Marcum rolling for the Bulldogs, East has to be a fairly heavy favorite against a young New Albany team.

• Greg’s Pick: Columbus East 58, New Albany 47.

GIRLS — Jasper at Jeffersonville

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Jasper 10-5, Jeffersonville 5-10.

• Last year: At Jasper 53, Jeffersonville 49.

• Last 10 years: Jeffersonville 9-1.

• Analysis: Jasper broke a long losing streak to Jeff during the Red Devils’ disappointing 2011-12 season. The Red Devils will avenge that loss and finish the regular season strong.

• Greg’s Pick: Jeffersonville 50, Jasper 44.

GIRLS — Switzerland County at New Washington

• Time: 2:30 p.m.

• Records: Switzerland County 6-8, New Washington 11-2.

• Rankings: New Washington, Class A No. 14.

• Last year: New Washington 72, at Switzerland County 59.

• Last 10 years: Switzerland County 6-4.

• Analysis: The Pacers have played solid defense this season, but New Wash has so many scoring options and will pull away for a comfortable win.

• Greg’s Pick: New Washington 66, Switzerland County 53.

Aaron Hayes, Christian Academy

Hayes scored a Christian Academy-record 50 points in last Saturday’s 83-82 quadruple-overtime victory over Christian Academy of Louisville. The 6-foot-3 Warrior senior made 25 of his 36 free-throw attempts and grabbed 13 boards as CAI won consecutive games to even its record at 5-5.
