H.S. FOOTBALL: Salem blows by Eastern, 57-7

Lions rush for 320 yards in Washington County rivalry

SALEM — Salem rolled up 320 yards on the ground and scored a pair of special teams touchdowns to defeat Washington County-rival Eastern 57-7 on Friday.

After a scoreless first quarter, Salem got its running game going early in the second quarter, leading to 29 second-quarter points. The Lions extended the lead to 43-0 after three quarters.

Austin Roberts scored the Musketeers’ lone touchdown on a 1-yard plunge early in the fourth quarter before Salem tacked on two more scores. Roberts completed 7 of 15 passes for 55 yards. Salem held Eastern to 82 yards on the ground on 39 carries.

Eastern (1-6, 1-5 MSC) hosts 1-6 Crawford County next Friday.
