COLLEGE SOFTBALL: Estes named KIAC Player of the Week

Freshman batted .692 batting average last week

NEW ALBANY — Indiana University Southeast freshman Whitney Estes was named the KIAC softball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday.

Estes finished the week with a .692 batting average (9-for-13) as the Grenadiers ended the week with a 4-0 record.

The IU Southeast catcher tallied eight runs batted in, three home runs, two triples, two doubles and six runs scored. She had two multi-hit games, including a 5-for-5 effort with two home runs against St. Catharine. In 16 games this season, Estes is batting .548 (23-for-42) with six home runs.

IU Southeast is currently 18-4 overall and 8-0 in KIAC play. The Grenadiers host Midway College for a doubleheader today.
