CLARKSVILLE — The Providence girls’ soccer team improved to 3-1 with a 4-1 home victory over Forest Park on Tuesday night at Memorial Field.

Junior Alyssa Jones led the Pioneers with a hat trick, scoring two of her three goals in the second half. Teammate Katelyn Koopman had an assist on each of Jones’ latter-half scores.

Providence’s other goal came from junior Jordan Reger. Pioneers’ goalkeeper Autumn Meyer recorded five saves.

NEXT: Providence (3-1) hosts North Oldham (Ky.), Thursday.

• Wyatt scores four times in Highlanders’ opener: Senior Lauren Wyatt made four goals and had an assist to lead Floyd Central to a 5-1 season-opening victory at Bedford North Lawrence on Tuesday.

Wyatt had two goals each in the first and second half. Halee Tanner booted in Floyd Central’s other goal on a Wyatt assist.

“It was a good start. We could’ve played better, but we played well enough to win,” Highlanders’ coach Lewie Stevens said.

NEXT: Floyd Central (1-0, 1-0 Hoosier Hills Conference) at Mercy Academy in Louisville, Thursday.

• Dragons roll by Southwestern: Alexis Barnett recorded a hat trick to lead visiting Silver Creek past Southwestern on Tuesday, 10-0. Teammate Olivia Scarbrough recorded three assists and two goals.

Also for the Dragons, Victoria Litzelswope and Lauren Cunliffe each had a goal and an assist.

“I was pleased with the way we bounced back from a tough loss on Saturday,” Creek coach Patrick Anderson said. “We continued to pass the ball well and look for open teammates. Our defense kept them from taking any shots and we outshot them, 25-0.”

NEXT: Silver Creek (2-1) hosts Scottsburg, next Tuesday.

• Bulldogs win home opener: With the score tied at three, Lindsey Striegel scored an unassisted goal with five minutes left in regulation to give New Albany a 4-3 victory over North Harrison on Tuesday at Prosser Field. It was the Bulldogs’ home opener.

New Albany’s first three goals were by Rachel Geveden, Kylie Harris and Stephanie Iglesias. The Bulldogs’ Miranda Duffy recorded an assist on Geveden’s score.

NEXT: New Albany at Bloomington South, Thursday.
