H.S. FOOTBALL: Highlanders hold off Madison in HHC opener

Kimm, Posey, defense lead FC to victory

MADISON — Garry Posey scored on a 3-yard run midway through the fourth quarter to give Floyd Central a 20-13 lead at Madison on Friday.

The Highlander defense held the Cubs the rest of the way as Floyd opened Hoosier Hills Conference play with the victory.

Floyd took a 13-0 lead after the first quarter. First Colton Kimm found Gaige Klingsmith on a 25-yard TD pass. Then Posey scored his first touchdown of the night on a 1-yard plunge.

Mitchell Sandlin scored a pair of touchdowns of his own for Madison. After a 42-yarder made it 13-7 at halftime, Sandlin tied the game in the third on a 3-yard run. However, the conversion kick failed and the game was tied at 13-13 heading into the final period.

Kimm finished 12 of 19 for 172 yards in the victory.

The Highanders, who have won two straight after opening the season with a loss, host winless Seymour next week. The loss was the first for Madison.
