COLLEGE ATHLETICS: Glover named to NAIA National Administrative Council

IUS athletic director will serve as KIAC rep

NEW ALBANY — IU Southeast Athletic Director Joe Glover has been named to the National Administrative Council (NAC) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Glover’s appointment will officially begin in June at the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) annual convention in Orlando, Fla.

The NAC helps shape policy at the highest level of the NAIA with committees governing rules and ratings, championships, awards and statistics and experience and enhancement. The NAC is an exclusive group of nearly 36 members representing all the 23 conferences and approximately 300 schools within the NAIA. A minimum of 10 athletic directors and 10 conference commissioners serve on the NAC.

Glover will serve as the official representative of the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (KIAC) on the NAC. The NAC conducts its business annually at the NAIA and NACDA conventions. The NACDA convention is scheduled for June 10-15 in Orlando.

The Council’s subcommittees will also meet throughout the academic year to review appeals and special requests from NAIA members and various coaches’ associations.

Glover is in his third year leading the IU Southeast athletic program. He was named NAIA-ADA Athletics Director of the Year in the KIAC for 2012-13.

This past year Glover was also selected by his peers as the Vice-President of the KIAC Executive Committee, the highest governing body of the athletic conference. Glover will serve a two-year term as vice-president before taking over as conference president in 2015.

Every team has competed in the KIAC championship game of its respective sport during Glover’s tenure at IU Southeast. The Grenadiers have won a combined 15 KIAC regular-season championships, 12 KIAC tournament championships and qualified for 13 NAIA National Tournaments under Glover’s leadership.

The IU Southeast Athletic Department was also awarded the distinguished KIAC Commissioner’s Cup in 2011 and 2012.
