H.S. VOLLEYBALL: Mattingly commits to Navy

Providence junior to play for Midshipmen in '15

CLARKSVILLE — Providence junior setting Patricia Mattingly has verbally committed to continue her volleyball career at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., beginning in the fall of 2015.

Mattingly will also receive the Academy’s Blue Chip Athlete Award if she signs a letter-of-intent with Navy, as is expected.

Mattingly helped lead Providence to the Class 2A state championship last fall. She led the Pioneers with 1,105 assists and 271 digs. She also had 117 kills and 90 blocks in a season in which she was News and Tribune Area Player of the Year runner-up to Floyd Central setter Remi Bowman.
