Wilson, Jones share Athlete of the Week honors



• Aaron Beck (Indianapolis men’s track, Jr.) — notes: 13th in the 3,000 steeplechase (10:19.75) and 19th in the javelin (37.84 meters) at the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Romeoville, Ill.; the Greyhounds won the GLVC championships with 165 1-2 points.

• Kyle Briner (Lee baseball, So.) — top performance: winning pitcher in a relief role in the Flames’ 11-5 victory over William Carey last Friday in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals in Columbus, Ga., 1 1/3 innings pitched, no runs allowed, no hits, no strikeouts, no walks; notes: Due to the postponement of the SSAC championship game on Saturday, Lee shared the conference tournament title with Faulkner; as a result, the Flames earned an automatic berth in the NAIA Baseball National Championship tournament; team records: 46-10 overall, 23-5 SSAC; Briner’s record: 3-0.

• Rachel Clemons (Bellarmine women’s track, Fr.) — notes: 12th in the 10,000 at the GLVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships last Friday and Saturday in Romeoville, Ill., 39:42.82.


• Chip Hockenbury (Hanover baseball, Jr.) — weekly stats: 1-0 record, 2 2/3 innings pitched, one run allowed (unearned), two hits, three strikeouts, two walks; top performance: winning pitcher in a relief role in the Panthers’ 9-8 home win over Bluffton in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday, 1 2/3 innings pitched, one run allowed (unearned), two hits, two strikeouts, one walk; season-ending stats: 1-2 record, team-high five saves, 0.84 ERA; team records: 16-22 overall, 9-16 HCAC.
