HHC ROUNDUP: Meyer shuts down Cubs, leads Jeff to title game

Floyd tennis beats Owls 5-0 for championship berth



• Floyd lose heartbreaker: Jennings County scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to advance to the HHC championship with a 2-1 win over Floyd Central.

Caroline Cato pitched nine innings and gave up just one earned run for the Highlanders. She struck out four. The Highlanders tied at 1-1 in the seventh to force extra innings when Taylor McClure’s double was followed by a Clara Shean RBI triple.

NEXT: Floyd Central (17-4) hosts Seymour, Friday.

• Morton shuts down Stars: Hannah Morton tossed a complete-game shutout to help New Albany beat Bedford North Lawrence 4-0 in a consolation-bracket game.

Morton struck out two Stars, walked two and had a double and two RBIs at the plate. Brittany Jones had two hits for the Bulldogs.

NEXT: New Albany (16-5) hosts Columbus East, Friday.
