GREG'S PICKS: Title games should be worth price of admission

Potential Jeff-New Albany, Clarksville-Crawford County and Borden-CAI championship games could be interesting

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — New Albany (14-7) vs. Jennings County (13-9)

• Time: Approximately 7:30 p.m.

• Radio: WNDA-1570 AM, WQKC-1450 AM, WNAS-88.1 FM.

• Computer-based Sagarin rankings: New Albany 59 (Class 4A No. 43); Jennings County 112 (Class 4A No. 73). According to Sagarin, New Albany is favored by 6.28 points.

• Series last 15 years: New Albany 19-3 (New Albany  4-1 in tournament games, including wins in the last four meetings).

• Regular-season matchup: At New Albany 43, Jennings County 35 on Feb. 19.

• Analysis: The regular-season matchup didn’t live up to high expectations with New Albany dominating from the start. Friday may be different. This should be an interesting game — easily the most compelling of the sectional to date.

• Greg’s Pick: New Albany 59, Jennings County 56.

Jeffersonville 80, New Albany 66. The Bulldogs will give Jeff a game — for a while. The Devils proved they have too much talent for their rivals during their 70-46 win in the regular season.

Crawford County (14-7) vs. Paoli (13-7)

• Time: 6 p.m.

• Computer-based Sagarin rankings: Crawford 179 (Class 2A No. 27); Paoli 193 (Class 2A No. 30) . According to Sagarin, Crawford is favored by 1.19 points.

• Series last 15 years: Tied, 10-10 (2-2 in the tournament; Crawford won last year, 51-47, in the sectional semifinal; Paoli won 60-50 in a 2002 regional semifinal).

• Regular-season matchup: At Paoli 48, Crawford County 49 on Feb. 22.

• Analysis: Paoli beat the Wolfpack at home last week, but at Crawford and in the sectional, it will be a different story.

• Greg’s Pick: Crawford County 61, Paoli 52.

Clarksville (16-5) vs. Eastern (9-11)

• Time: Approximately 7:30 p.m.

• Rankings: Clarksville — Class 2A No. 8 AP.

• Computer-based Sagarin rankings: Clarksville 117 (Class 2A No. 11); Eastern 267 (Class 2A No. 55). According to Sagarin, Clarksville is favored by 17.11 points.

• Series last 15 years: Eastern 10-9 (Eastern 3-0 in tournament games).

• Regular-season matchup: Clarksville 48, at Eastern 36 on Dec. 8.

• Analysis: Clarksville better not take Eastern lightly after Tuesday’s big win. The Musketeers are dangerous have some players who can light it up from behind the 3-point arc. In the end, however, it would be a stunner if Clarksville doesn’t win this sectional.

• Greg’s Pick: Clarksville 58, Eastern 44.
