WEDNESDAY HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Carrier’s record night leads Jeff to victory

Devils move above .500 with 10-0 win over Pirates

JEFFERSONVILLE —  Devin Carrier scored a school-record five goals as Jeffersonville defeated Charlestown 10-0 on Wednesday.

Carrier scored all three of the Red Devil goals in the first half. She added two more and an assist as Jeff scored seven second-half goals.

“It was an awesome game by her,” Jeff coach Scott Epley said of Carrier. “It is what we’ve expected of her all along. We’ve started passing a little better and it gave her some openings.”

Hannah Scott added a pair of goals in the second half. Rebekah Harris, Camber Sollberger and even regular goalkeeper Ashlyn Crane scored goals. Sollberger also had an assist.

“I was really happy with the way the team played together as a whole,” Epley said.

The Devils are now 3-2-2 and recovered well after a 7-0 loss to Seymour that made Epley question his maturity.

“After that last game, we found out we still have some growing to do,” Epley said. “I’m proud that the girls have put the effort into doing what we’re trying to do.”

Jeff goes to Forest Park on Saturday for its next outing. Charlestown hosts Southwestern next Tuesday.
