GREG'S PICKS: Dragons improving at right time

Silver Creek faces tough upcoming games against NA, Providence

(Continued)

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — GIRLS — New Albany at Jeffersonville

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: New Albany 8-8 (3-2 HHC); Jeffersonville 6-11 (2-4 HHC).

• Last year: At New Albany 52, Jeffersonville 42.

• Last 10 years: Jeffersonville 11-3.

• Analysis: There’s no doubt this game will come down to the fourth quarter. When in doubt, take the team with the closer. As well as Jeff junior Haley Vogen has been playing, Tanner Marcum has proven she can carry the Bulldogs in pressure situations.

• Greg’s Pick: New Albany 51, Jeffersonville 44.

SATURDAY

BOYS — Henryville at Borden

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Henryville 0-9 (0-2 Southern Athletic Conference); Borden 9-2 (4-0 SAC).

• Rankings: Borden — Class A No. 7.

• Last year: At Henryville 89, Borden 84.

• Last 15 years: Henryville 12-11.

• Analysis: Knowing what we know now, it’s stunning to me that Henryville beat Borden a year ago. This year, the Braves will run the Southern Athletic Conference table.

• Greg’s Pick: Borden 68, Henryville 40.

BOYS — Madison at Floyd Central

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: Madison 6-5 (0-4 HHC); Floyd 3-10 (0-3 HHC).

• Last year: Floyd Central 50, at Madison 26.

• Last 15 years: Madison 10-6.

• Analysis: The Highlanders showed something in the overtime win over North Harrison. Now it’s time for them to get their first of at least two conference wins.

• Greg’s Pick: Floyd Central 43, Madison 41.

GIRLS — New Washington at South Central

• Time: 7:30 p.m.

• Records: New Washington 13-2 (2-0 SAC); South Central 5-10 (2-1 SAC).

• Rankings: New Washington — Class A No. 11.

• Last year: New Washington 72, at South Central 54 (regular season); New Washington 53, South Central 43 (sectional).

• Last 10 years: South Central 15-4.

• Analysis: South Central has ruled the SAC for years and coach Randall Schoen is the reason why. But even with Schoen on the sidelines and the Rebels at home, New Wash appears to be a team that just isn’t going to be stopped.

• Greg’s Pick: New Washington 65, South Central 52.

GIRLS — Corydon Central at Floyd Central

• Time: 2:30 p.m.

• Records: Corydon Central 12-5, Floyd Central 9-7.

• Last year: Floyd Central 68, at Corydon Central 54.

• Last 10 years: Tied 5-5.

• Analysis: Corydon has won four straight, including a big win over Madison last week. But something tells me the Highlanders may start to roll toward the tournament.

• Greg’s Pick: Floyd Central 55, Corydon Central 50.
