H.S. ATHLETICS: All-SAC baseball, softball teams announced

Conference also passes out All-Sports Trophies

> SOUTHERN INDIANA — The Southern Athletic Conference announced its all-conference baseball and softball teams on Friday along with the winners of the 2013-14 SAC Boys’ and Girls’ All-Sports trophies.

 

BASEBALL

Conference champion Borden had five players make the All-SAC baseball squad. They were Garrett Vick, Kyle Kruer, Cody Craddock, Brian McGee and Josh Vollstedt. Braves’ head coach Brian Agnew shared SAC Coach of the Year honors with South Central manager Brian McKnight.

Two other Clark County players earned spots on the team in Henryville’s Derek Hall and New Washington’s Lane Johnson.

Other players making the squad were South Central’s Austin Knear, Nick Veith and Nate Shaffer, Lanesville’s Jon Ferree and Spencer Dauphinee and Crothersville’s Evan Doyle. Knear was named the SAC Most Outstanding Player.

 

SOFTBALL

Borden, which won its first-ever SAC title last season, had three players make the All-SAC squad. They were twin sisters Paige and Riley Schindler and Haley Shouse.

Henryville had the most players earn All-SAC honors with four. Making the team for the Hornets were Emily Hollis, Ashtyn Kaskie, Emma Hendricks and Hannah Nunn. Brooke Shaw was New Washington’s lone representative on the all-conference team.

Hollis and Paige Schindler shared the SAC Most Outstanding Player honor. Borden’s Alex Knerr won the SAC Coach of the Year award.

Also earning All-SAC spots were Lanesville’s Emma Zeller, Robyn Schoen and Erica Daly and South Central’s Victoria Sallee.

 

ALL-SPORTS TROPHIES

Borden won the SAC Boys’ All-Sports Trophy for the sixth consecutive season. The Braves collected conference titles in boys’ cross country, boys’ basketball, boys’ track and baseball during the 2013-14 school year.

Henryville collected the SAC Girls’ All-Sports Trophy for the third time in four academic years, beating second-place Borden by one point. During the 2013-14 school year, the Hornets won SAC championships in girls’ cross country and girls’ track.
